530 PM CST Tue Dec 3 2019 .SHORT TERM...(This evening through Wednesday) Issued at 123 PM CST Tue Dec 3 2019 Aloft: RAP tropopause analyses and WV imagery showed low- amplitude NW flow over the Cntrl Plns. A ridge was over the Wrn USA and a shrtwv trof was over the upr Midwest heading into the GtLks. This low-amplitude flow will remain thru tomorrow with winds backing to WNW. Surface: Wk high pres was over CO. This high will slide SE into the Srn Plns thru tomorrow...with the ridge axis crossing the CWA around midday. Now thru sunset: incrsd high temp a bit mainly S and E of the snow pack. Highs will range from the mid 40s NW to upr 50s SE...and will occur around 3 PM. Tonight: Clear. Lows 27-31F...about 10F above normal. Lgt W winds. Wed: Sunny to start...but incrsg cirrostratus from the S will turn skies partly to mostly cldy...cloudiest S of Hwy 6. Highs should be 2-3F warmer than today where skies remain sunniest (N of Hwy 6). .LONG TERM...(Wednesday night through Tuesday) Issued at 123 PM CST Tue Dec 3 2019 Aloft: The past 2 runs of global mdls (GFS-FV3/EC/CMC/UKMET) are tightly-clustered on low-amplitude WNW flow cont Thu-Fri. The Wrn USA ridge will move E and cross NEB/KS Sat...shifting the flow to W or WSW Sun-Tue. Significant amplification of the longwaves is fcst due to a deep trof advancing into the NE Pac. This will force a ridge to build from the W coast into Yukon. Height will then fall over the Plns as Arctic air unloads. Mdl agreement is very good...providing high confidence. Surface: A wk cool front will cross the CWA Thu. A stronger cold front is fcst to move thru Mon morning...and will be followed by the Arctic front plunging thru Tue night...with a 1040+ mb high dropping out of Canada. Temps: Near normal Thu. A brief cooldown Fri. Warmer than normal Sat-Sun...and our fcst may not be warm enough. Mon-Tue turning colder than normal. Precip: Mostly dry. Nothing significant. There could be a little patchy light snow/rain with the front Mon. If anything occurs...it won`t amt to much. && .AVIATION...(For the 00Z KGRI/KEAR TAFS through 00Z Wednesday) Issued at 529 PM CST Tue Dec 3 2019 A few cirrus will move through the area.
