I found that in conditions of low RH (< 70%), the qc_bl was often zero. This allows for at least some thin cloud whenever the we diagnose a non-zero cloud fraction. In tandem with that decrease, alp3 should be decreased as well (from 5 to 1), so the daytime PBL diffusivities will be reduced (Both alp2 and alp3 impact the buoyancy mixing length scale; alp2 always, but alp3 only in unstable situations). However, the increase in alp5 (08 Aug) did help increase the diffusivities in the free atmosphere, but the TKE aloft still looks anemic. Will further increase to 1.0. Together, these mods should decrease the magnitude of dKh/dz and therefore reduce the entrainment during the day.
